Understanding Your Usage & Billing
Every plan comes with a set amount of AI messages and voice minutes. Here's how that usage is counted, what happens if you reach your limit, and how to avoid getting caught out.
AI messages
Every plan includes a monthly allowance of AI messages, covering conversations across WhatsApp, Web Chat, Email and SMS. This is the number that scales with your plan -- from 1,000/month on Basic up to 25,000/month on Pro.
Voice minutes
Phone calls are metered separately, in minutes. Voice minutes are only included from the Starter plan up (100/month), scaling to 1,500/month on Pro. Basic doesn't include Voice at all.
What "hard-stop billing" means
Botnira's plans use hard-stop billing: if you reach your plan's included AI messages or voice minutes before your billing period renews, usage pauses rather than quietly running up an overage bill. That's the opposite of per-minute or per-call billing models, where going over your expected usage can produce a surprise invoice at the end of the month.
The trade-off is that if you're consistently close to your limit, you'll want to either upgrade your plan or buy a top-up pack before you actually run out, so your AI receptionist doesn't go quiet on you mid-month.
Staying ahead of your limits
- Check Plan & Billing regularly. Your current usage against your plan's allowance is visible in your dashboard -- a quick glance partway through the month tells you whether you're on track.
- Watch for seasonal spikes. A promotion, a busy season, or new marketing can drive a sudden jump in conversations. If you know one is coming, check your usage room in advance.
- Compare the cost of upgrading vs. topping up. If you're consistently near your limit every month, moving to the next plan tier is usually more cost-effective than repeat top-ups. See comparing Botnira's plans.
